Hold Fast to Your Dreams

Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams, for when dreams go, life is a barren field frozen with snow.

Do we forsake our dreams because hope has been deferred?  To desire is to open our hearts to the possibility of pain, to shut down our hearts is to die altogether.   The full proverb reads this way:  "Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when dreams come true, there is life and joy." *

(Excerpt above taken from John Eldredge's book, "Desire" -
John Eldredge is one of my favorite authors.)
