WHO'S CALLING YOU?

WHO’S CALLING YOU?

WHO’S CALL ARE YOU ANSWERING?

DO YOU KNOW WHAT GOD HAS CALLED YOU TO?

The call of the world, the culture, our friends, etc. etc. – so many things call to us – constantly!  Life in general calls to us simply through the day to day things we have to do, our careers, family commitments, school, jobs, etc. etc.  In the midst of living life, we need to make sure to stay focused on seeking God's call on our lives.

Don’t forget who you are as a son or daughter of the Most High God:
1 Peter 2:9 – But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

Even if you don’t feel like this – this is who God calls you – chosen, royalty (His prince or princess), holy (righteous by His blood – set apart, pure in His eyes), special (there is no one in the world like you – no one even has the same fingerprints as you – amazing!) – His unique work of art – a masterpiece designed by the Master Creator of the universe!

Here are just a few reminders of what God has called you to
(Isaiah 54:6- the Lord has called you):

• God has called you to love Him with all your heart & love others as yourself. (Mark 12:30)

• God has called you to know Him intimately – know His truth, His Word & know His freedom! (John 8:31-32)

• God has called you to freedom from bondage & every sin that so easily entangles you. (Galatians 4:31, 5:1, 13 & Hebrews 12:1)

• God has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. (1 Peter 2:9)

• God has called you to come out from among those around you walking in darkness and be separated (set apart) unto Him. (2 Cor. 6:16-17. Do not be deceived, bad company corrupts good morals – 1 Cor. 15:33).

• God has called you to be a worshipper in spirit and in truth. (John 4:23-24)

• God has called you to be salt & light. (Matthew 5:13-14)

• God has called you to use your gifts to serve others. (1 Peter 4:10)

• God has called you to reflect His glory. (Isaiah 43:7 - ..all you who claim God as your Maker, you were made for His glory; Isaiah 60:1-3 – … darkness will cover the earth & deep darkness the people, but the Lord will rise upon you and His glory will appear upon you.; 1 Peter 5:10)

• God has called you to be the unique individual He created you to be! (Ephesians 2:10; Psalm 139)

All of the above are general callings for all of us as followers of Christ. However, God has a specific calling for each of us as individuals. However, many of us never know our real calling, because we do not take the time to continually pursue and get closer to the One who can reveal our true calling to us. Psalm 37:4 tells us to “delight ourselves in the Lord and He will give us the desires of our heart”. To delight means to continually take pleasure in. What are you continually taking pleasure in? A lot of people randomly use this verse somewhat manipulatively, believing that God will give us whatever we desire if we belong to Him. But what this verse is really saying is, as we stay in pursuit of drawing close to our Heavenly Father, loving Him more than anything or anyone else, soaking in His presence and being consumed with His love, His truth, His heart, etc., God will awaken the desires and good works He planned for us to walk in while we were being formed in our mother’s womb (Psalm 139; Ephesians 2:10).

Don’t try to complete in the flesh what has begun in the Spirit (Galatians 3:3 – Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, you are now being made perfect in the flesh?). You can only do this as you walk in the Spirit. You cannot do it simply through a strong will or human effort. Unless you stay daily plugged into the power, grace, and strength of the Holy Spirit through time spent in worship, the Word, prayer, etc. – you are not going to be a light, and, instead, you may even become discouraged, or even worse, begin to conform to the culture around you (Romans 12:1-2). We can clearly see that there is “deep darkness” covering the people around us in our day (there is tremendous perversity, deception, etc.). Keep on the armor (this is a fight of faith) – Ephesians 6:10-18. Stay in the Spirit by feeding your spirit – listening to praise and worship music, meditating on the Word, and talking with God throughout your day (prayer). Stay connected to the body of Christ in fellowship with other believers. (Focus on good things – Philippians 4:8 – whatever is good, true, positive, uplifting, encouraging, etc.)

Ephesians 1:18 – a prayer for you to know your calling – The Message Bible
I ask the God of our Master, Jesus Christ, the God of glory – to make you intelligent and discerning in knowing Him personally, your eyes focused and clear, so that you can see exactly what it is He is calling you to do, grasp the immensity of this glorious way of life he has for Christians, oh, the utter extravagance of His work in us who trust Him – endless energy, boundless strength!

Ephesians 4:1-2 – Walk in a Manner Worthy of Your Calling!

Ephesians 5:14 – Awake, sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.
Awaken to His love, Arise to His calling, shine His light and reflect His glory!
